the last lesson left a deep impression on my mind. i was deeply moved by the teacher's love of his country. the regret of little franz makes me think of much of the time i've wasted in my daily life. the learning of this lesson helps me to understand the importance of time and therefore i won't waste time from now on.

today is a weekend and it is the traditional chinese festival----the mid-autumn festival. next monday will be our national day. these two festivals are so close that we will have a four-day holiday. all chinese people are very happy.
in the afternoon, my uncle and aunt, together with their children came to visit my grandma. they brought some moon-cakes, fruits, and some other presents with them. my father and mother cooked nice dishes for dinner.
after dinner, we admired the bright moon hanging in the sky, and talked about the great changes that have taken place in our home town in the past few years, and the bright future of our great motherland.
nov. 23, saturday
about fifty american students came to visit our school today.
we gathered at the school gate at 8 o'clock to give them a warm welcome. then we had a get-together in the reading-room in our library. our headmaster told them something about our school. and then we talked with each other and exchanged gifts. from nine thirty we showed them around our school. they visited our classroom building, the lab building, the factory run by our school, and the swimming pool. a friendly basketball game started on the sports ground at ten thirty. at twelve o'clock all american students left our school.
in the afternoon my classmates and i went to book shops. we chose and bought some books and tapes.
i was busy but happy today.
today is my birthday. although it rained heavily, a lot of friends came to my home to attend my birthday party. they brought me many presents. after supper we ate the birthday cake happily. we also took many pictures. the party didn' t finish until it was 12:30 in the morning. what a good time i had! i' ll never forget this birthday.
jun. lst, tuesday,
i am on duty today. i must get to school earlier to open the door of the classroom. afraid of being late forschool, i decided to go to school by bike. as i was rid ing too fast, i couldn' t stop my bike and suddenly knocked down an old man who was walking across the street. i fell off my bike too. but i had to stand up quickly and hurried to school. however, when i got to school, i found that my key for the door of the classroom was lost. i couldn' t open the door and had to return home to fetch it. you can' t imagine how disappointed i was today!

i am learning how to ride a bicycle. two weeks ago i began to learn it from my father. it was not easy at first. i had a lot of falls, but i never stopped trying. yesterday my father asked me to go out with him by bike. the road was busy. it was full of cars and people. i felt afraid the whole time and was very careful. at last i got home. i felt very tired. my father seemed to be very pleased. he said, “you've done very well, boy!”

it snowed last night. this morning the road was covered with snow. there were still a lot of bikes coming and going.
suddenly i saw a woman fall off her bike. the woman lay on the ground and couldn't get up. i ran up to her and tried to help her get up. she sat up but still couldn't stand up because her right leg was broken. at that moment, a policeman came over. when he saw this he called a taxi. the taxi driver sent the lady to the nearest hospital. i went with her to the hospital. there i telephoned the woman's office and told a man there the whole story.
seeing that the lady was well looked after i said goodbye to her. before i left, the lady thanked me again and again. i felt as if i had grown up.
